SkinTē is a revolutionary sparkling beverage formulated by a doctor and chef to boost your skincare and promote daily well-being. We carefully selected the finest premium teas brewed to perfection, added the highest quality, bioavailable collagen peptides, mixed in super-herbs, and topped it all off with a little sparkle. Yes – vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. No – dairy, soy, grains, dyes, or artificial sweeteners. Think of it as gourmet skincare you can drink. SkinTē also provides nutritional support for hair, nails, mood, immunity, joints, and overall well-being.What is collagen and why do we need it?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and the foundation of vibrant skin, hair, nails, bones, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage... even teeth and blood vessels. 70% of our skin and 30% of our total body protein is collagen—it is the protein that literally holds us together. In our 20s, collagen starts to break down faster than it can be produced. So consuming collagen on a regular basis is important to replenish the loss. What type of collagen is in SkinTē?
Our drinks contain the highest quality, kosher collagen hydrolysate sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised beef. We have chosen a reliable collagen supplier that conducts rigorous testing by outside laboratories. What is the source of SkinTē®'s collagen?
SkinTē contains mostly type 1 and 3 collagen. That said, ingesting any type of collagen is useful in building new collagen of all types on the inside of the body. This is because all types of collagen have similarities in terms of their amino acid composition. As Dr. Bader says, “When you eat collagen, no matter what type of collagen, you’re using those building blocks to rebuild your own collagen on the inside of the body…every type of collagen. The body knows where it needs to repair and rebuild.”Where are the cows? Are they grass fed?
Our collagen supplier sources from cattle in Argentina and Brazil. They are pasture-raised and grass-fed based on the standards of the American Grassfed Association and animal welfare guidelines. Being forage-based eliminates the potential use of growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids, which follows the Food and Agricultural Legislation in Argentina and Brazil. The cows graze freely on open grasslands away from the pollution of the cities and are raised by ranchers. Our supplier is committed to monitoring emerging welfare practices and research in order to stay informed about the latest advances in animal welfare, as well as food safety and quality. Why not use fish (marine) collagen?
We have investigated marine collagen and at this time, we are not comfortable using marine collagen in our products. We have some concerns regarding potential contamination to wild fish due to environmental toxins and microplastics in the ocean. Also, farmed fish live in toxic conditions and are typically fed poor diets. Fish is also a common allergen and we have concerns about putting anyone at risk. We continue to stay up-to-date on research and evolve as we learn more. Can I get collagen by eating meat, poultry, and fish?
Collagen is a protein that is found in the connective tissue, skin, and bones of animals. (There is no vegan source.) The amino acid structure of collagen protein is incredibly unique and beneficial. It is very different from eating meat as a source of protein. The most abundant amino acid in collagen is glycine (about 33%). Glycine is up to 20 times higher in collagen than in meat. Glycine is an important amino acid that not only plays a role in building new collagen/connective tissue on the inside of our bodies but also has been used to support mood, sleep, digestive and joint health. Eating a regularly cooked piece of fish, meat, or fowl will not provide you with enough collagen. Why combine collagen with tea?
The magic happens when we combine collagen with tea. Antioxidants, isoflavones, and other compounds in tea are protective and nourishing for the whole body, including skin. We use premium teas and herbs that have collagen-friendly ingredients such as vitamin C. Green tea, white tea, black tea, hibiscus, ginger, and elderflower specifically have other benefits including enhanced mood, immune and digestive support, and antioxidants. How long before I see a difference?
While everyone is different (and lifestyle is a factor), typically it takes 3-12 weeks of consistent use to see improvements. Most people tend to notice improvements in hair and nails first. (We have to color our roots much more often these days!) We recommend drinking 1-2 SkinTē beverages a day, but even a few a week will benefit you.Is SkinTē® Whole30 compliant?
Our White Tea Ginger is Whole30 compliant. Our Green Tea Grapefruit and Hibiscus Vanilla are not, but they are keto and paleo. What types of sweeteners do you use in SkinTē?
We listened to our customers and created two options so we could be inclusive of their needs and preferences. Our White Tea Ginger flavor is sweetened with a splash of grape juice. For customers who are diabetic, or want a keto- or paleo- friendly drink, we recommend Green Tea Grapefruit, Hibiscus Vanilla, Lemon Lime, Black Raspberry or Peach Mango. They contain 0g-5g net carbs depending on the flavor and are sweetened with non-GMO erythritol, a natural sweetener we feel great about. For those that like both options, all six flavors are a fun way to mix it up!
How much SkinTē should I enjoy to experience benefits?
Controlled trials show oral collagen consumption of 2500-5000 mg daily for 12 weeks promotes skin elasticity. Each SkinTē contains at least 3000 mg of collagen. Each person is different and may need more or less depending on their overall dietary and lifestyle habits (ie. smokers or sun worshippers may need to double down). Think of collagen the way you think of any important food group, like your vegetables. The goal is to consume it regularly, but don't worry about being too prescriptive. If you miss a few days, get back on track when you can. For those serious about results, consume 1-2 daily. SkinTē offers you an easy way to drink your collagen on a regular basis. What are the benefits of having SkinTē after a workout?
When we exercise we break down our muscle, put pressure on our body, joints, heart and blood vessels. Collagen helps support post-workout recovery. Exercising boosts our metabolism (Yay!) but that creates an increase in free radicals in our bodies (Boo!). Antioxidants help protect us from this oxidative stress. The herbs, teas and Vitamin C in SkinTē provide these supportive and protective nutrients. Hydration is key to post-workout recovery and overall well-being. SkinTē’s electrolytes make hydration seriously delicious. SkinTē is the ultimate body recovery formula: vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, collagen, plus hydration. All in one convenient package. Why do some cans of SkinTē® have sediment?
Sediment is safe, natural, and varies in amount and appearance. It is the result of our delicious extraction of REAL brewed organic tea leaves and herbs (it’s proof we’re the real deal). As our very own Dr. B says, “When you see these little gems, chug ‘em and love ‘em. They are full of nutrients. Bottoms up!”Why cans?
We had some tough choices to make when it came to packaging. Glass is beautiful and healthy, but it also breaks, is extremely heavy to ship, and requires a lot of energy to produce and recycle. Plastic is light, but we worry about the environmental impact of all that plastic in the world. With the new and improved BPA non-intent liners in cans, we felt we had a good solution. Not only are they light and won’t break, aluminum cans are also the most sustainable beverage package. That said, we are constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest in packaging solutions for your health and for the environment. Can I use SkinTē if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
First of all, congratulations! We can’t give any medical advice regarding pregnancy, breastfeeding or any other medical condition. So, we recommend you talk to your doctor and follow his or her advice. Is SkinTē safe for children?
While the ingredients in SkinTē are safe, we always recommend you consult your doctor as every child’s nutritional needs are different. Also note, two of our products contain a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine from the teas. So, how do you pronounce SkinTē?
We pronounce it “Skin Tea”. You can also pronounce it “Skin Tee”. We’ve also heard people pronounce it “Skin T”. Pick the one that works for you. (Wink!)
