Your New Morning Routine

For those of us with busy schedules, never-ending to-do lists and early wake-ups, getting out of bed in the morning can feel like the highest mountain to climb — especially if you are also feeling the impact of mental health issues like stress and anxiety. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Mornings can be a wonderful time to take care of yourself, find inspiration and get yourself excited for the day ahead. It is a great way to support your mental health and well-being, so in honor of Mental Health Week, Prospect Farms and SkinTē have partnered to put together a few ideas to help you get your days started on a positive note.

With a few of these happy morning habits under your belt, you’ll be jumping out of bed in no time, and your entire day will be transformed.

Green Tea Grapefruit SkinTe and Prospect Farms Awaken Tincture

  • Wake up With an Energy-Boosting Elixir

    1. Looking forward to a delicious beverage in the morning might just be the motivation you need to throw those covers aside. Why not try a few drops of Prospect Farms’ Awaken Tincture mixed into SkinTē’s Green Tea Grapefruit? The tincture contains whole-plant cannabinoids and terpenes, specially formulated to boost your mood and help you destress, while SkinTē contains uplifting ingredients such as wellness-supporting nettle root and mood-boosting hawthorn berry. Importantly, both products bring you the benefits of citrus, thanks to the grapefruit in SkinTē and the limonene and citral in Awaken. There’s a reason citrus is so popular for breakfast: It can help boost your body’s production of serotonin, resulting in a happier, more relaxed you.

    2. Stretch It Out

      1. Stretching is such an easy habit to integrate and it feels so good! It can help relieve any tension in your body from an awkward sleeping position, as well as getting the blood flowing through your joints and muscles, making you feel energized (and giving you that lit-from-within glow we’re all after).

You can stretch in whatever way feels good, or create a more structured routine. If you work out regularly, you’ll know exactly what to do — just make sure to hold each stretch for as long as it takes for that muscle group to feel more relaxed. Another great way to get your stretch on in the morning is to move slowly through a few rounds of yoga Sun Salutations.

      2. Get Outside

        1. Spending time outside is so crucial to our overall well-being, but it’s sometimes all too easy not to make it a priority. Whether you go on a nature walk, spend a few minutes in your backyard or just walk down the driveway to pick up the mail, doing this in the morning could make all the difference to your mood for the day.

If it’s sunny, you’ll be getting a dose of vitamin D, which is super important for bone health and immunity. Even if the weather’s not so great, simply getting outside can help you feel less stressed, more focused, more creative and generally healthier.

        2. Journal

          1. Journaling has many mental health benefits, and doing it as part of your morning routine could make your whole day that much better. It’s an exercise in mindfulness that can help you deal with stress, bring you closer to achieving your goals, and boost your memory, comprehension and creativity. There’s no wrong way to do it — just sit down and write! Treat yourself to a pretty notebook that will inspire you, pick up your favorite pen, and get it all out on the page. Write down whatever’s going on in your head, whether that’s what happened yesterday, random thoughts, your hopes and dreams… Set a timer and just let it flow!

          2. Carve Out a Few Minutes To Nurture a Passion

            1. When you’re short on time, the last thing you’re going to prioritize is learning something new. But if you’ve always wanted to teach yourself Portuguese, or guitar, or knitting, you don’t need hours and hours. If you carve out even five minutes to develop a new skill before you get to tackling that to-do list, you’ll soon see the fruits of your labor. There’s also tons of evidence showing that having a regular hobby benefits your well-being. What’s not to love?

              1. Mornings don’t have to be difficult. In fact, if you play your cards right, they can be the best part of your day — and set you up for long-lasting mental health.
